Nicki Minaj tricked fans into thinking that she would be releasing a new album, jokingly titled “Pick My Fruit Out,” on Sunday night. As expected, unwitting fans feverishly responded to the announcement which the 33-year-old Trinidadian-born rapper made on Twitter.

“Ok u (sic) know what I wasn’t gonna say anything but damn ya (sic) got it out of me,” Minaj tweeted (via Entertainment Weekly). “The album drops at midnight. it’s called #PickMyFruitOut.”

Not content with just an announcement of a pretend album, the rapper also tweeted out a track list, with all the songs getting their titles from different fruits, according to Billboard. The supposed songs included “Mango,” “Cherry,” “Watermelon,” “Grapes” and “Raspberries.”

One of the tunes, “Bananas,” is subtitled “Harambe Interlude.”

Minaj, who last released an album, titled “The Pinkprint,” in 2014, also jested that a 10th track was titled “N—- Toss My Fruit Salad,” which she said would be a collaboration with her “favorite rapper of all time.”

Fans reacted with frenzy and engaged in repartee.

“When you reread the tracklist & realize #9 is ‘Fruit Loops’ Brehhh that's a cereal #PickMyFruitOut,” says one fan.

“WAIT is nicki actually gon drop #PickMyFruitOut or is she playing cos y'all saying she ain't,” tweeted another fan.

As the tweet would imply, some fans were already beginning to realize that Minaj was only pranking them. Some time later, she finally divulged to fans that it was all a joke.

“*kisses u* love u back. All of u. Love you sooooooo fkn much. i Been cryin laughin this whole time, btw… Good stuff (sic),” she tweeted.

Minaj has yet to make an announcement regarding the release of an actual upcoming album, but she has featured on a number of tracks by other artists since releasing “The Pinkprint.” Among these are Ariana Grande’s “Side to Side,” Madonna’s “B--ch I’m Madonna” and David Guetta’s “Hey Mama.”
