Nicki Minaj's ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels is trying to make waves of his own in the hip-hop industry, and he's also seeing other women after their 12-year relationship.

Most recently, the rapper was seen with a “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood” star, and fans cannot stop talking about it because Samuels went from Nicki to Nikki. The rapper has been spotted getting cozy with Nikki Muddaris, though Samuels likes to call whatever is going on between them as “situationship” not a relationship.

Despite the criticism he gets from people who think it odd that his ex-girlfriend and his new flame have the same name, Samuels says his feelings for Muddaris are real.

“It's not for no TV, it's not for no show, 'cause I don't like to play with my heart like that,” he told VH1.

Samuels added that he knows people are also talking about the similarities between his ex and his new girl's physique, but he clarifies that he is focused on his new relationship.

The rapper's statements come a couple of weeks after he said in a tweet that he is willing to be friends with his ex. Samuels explained the message behind his tweet during an appearance on “VH1 Live” saying he has moved on from the relationship and he does not hate Minaj.

It appears that time has done Samuels good. In December 2015, the rapper came after Minaj for not being credited for his work on her songs. Samuels said he helped the “Anaconda” rapper on all of her songs. A month before that, Samuels also took a hit at Minaj after she won Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album at the American Music Awards. He said in a tweet, “Heard I won an award. The pen is always mightier than the sword.”

Samuels and Minaj broke up in October 2014.
