Ian Somerhalder’s Dec. 8 birthday passed without a word from his wife Nikki Reed on social media, but the former “Twilight” star didn't forget about her husband. Reed added her well wishes to Instagram just a few days later with a very romantic message.

“You are my every dream brought to life. With our hands pressed together I know that we will always find our way home,” she wrote on Instagram. “You are a gift to this world, a teacher of light and a student of love. You radiate warmth in vibrant reds and deep orange hues. I often wonder what it would be like to see autumn arrive through your eyes. Here is to the next 65 years together, holding hands, strolling through the woods, still learning, still listening. Happy happy birthday...I love you.”

The message was posted alongside a painting that said “I love you” with Somerhalder’s birthday written in the corner. Somerhalder did the same for Reed in May. He wished the “Sleepy Hollow” actress a happy birthday in several messages on social media, E! Online reports. Reed and Somerhalder were married in April in a rustic ceremony in California.

The “Vampire Diaries” actor turned 37 last week, and it was also the fifth anniversary of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF), the actor’s nonprofit that aims to help the planet and animals. Somerhalder wrote a message to fans who support the organization.

“There is no greater show of affection to another human, than to support that which they are most passionate about,” Somerhalder wrote on his website. “With each passing year, it becomes clearer to me that you share my passion for our planet and all of its creatures, and for a generation of young change makers. Thank you.”

Somerhalder also went on to explain that he launched a contest for fans who donate to ISF to win items signed by the “Vampire Diaries” cast. Fans who donate over $37 this month will automatically be entered to win the prizes.
