Nikki Reed is ditching her sci-fi roots in favor of an indie drama in Breaking Glass Pictures' "About Scout." Reed plays Georgie in the film, a trailer park dwelling young woman living with a much older man with a dark past.

Entertainment Tonight released a scene from the film on Thursday, which shows a very pregnant Reed, 27, falling for an age-old trick. She is approached in the clip by Sam (James Frencheville) who claims she's been chosen as a cover girl for a magazine. Meanwhile, Scout (India Ennenga) is shown sneaking into the mobile home Georgie shares with Ray (Tim Guinee) — Scout's estranged stepfather. Her mission? To take back her little sister Lulu (Onata Aprile), who was kidnapped by Ray. The "Sleepy Hollow" star discoverers Lulu's absence after returning to the trailer to change for the fake photoshoot.

While the baby bump shown in the clip is purely a film prop, Reed and husband Ian Somerhalder are considering having kids of their own — someday. In a September 2015 interview with Entertainment Tonight the 37-year-old "Vampire Diaries" star said he and Reed had been practicing plenty for having kids. He joked that it was "not practice makes perfect — it's perfect practice." On a more serious note, Somerhalder said he has some reservations about bringing children into this "turbulent and insane world," but said that he was feeling ready to "just love it."

"About Scout" is an indie film about a rebellious teen — Ennenga's character — who drives across Texas with Sam, a suicidal teen from a mental institution. The film was announced in April 2015 and is being spearheaded by director Laurie Weltz.

"About Scout" hits theaters on Friday.
