The 3DS is an upgrade from the DS in Nintendo's long line of handheld video game consoles, but after a disappointing launch, Nintendo has dropped the price to $170 dollars from $250.

The new drop will go into effect August 12th.

But for those who bought the gaming device at full price, Nintendo is offering 20 free title games via Nintendo 3Shop before 11:59pm on August 11th. The 20 titles include 10 NES games and 10 Gameboy advanced games, with such hit titles as The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros.

Nintendo released a warning last year for parents over the possibility of eye injury to young children which could what is deterring customers to the 3DS.

It will be a few months before the effect of the sales can be seen, but for those wanting to take advantage of the steep price drop can look forward to it in two weeks time.
