Apple has not attended the Consumer Electronics Show for many years (not officially, anyway), but TechCrunch writer MG Siegler wrote Apple stole the show before it even began. Siegler said it's because any devices coming out of the show would just be compared to Apple products anyway, so Apple wins. As the maker of the hugely successful iPad, Apple gets plenty of attention from its competitors, and many are indeed taking the opportunity to show off their new tablets at CES.

Many new tablets are compared to the iPad, but just as many are not really competing with it. That is because they are discount items running older Android versions and without a native apps system. There have been some intriguing tablets announced, however, and they take dead aim at the iPad. Most people are expcting a new iPad in either March or April, so in the meantime, find out what Lenovo and Toshiba, among others, have planned for later this year.
