Nokia is expected to unveil the Lumia 1020 tomorrow in New York. The Finnish company has hinted at one feature of the Lumia 1020, previously rumored to be called the 909 or EOS PureView, saying there will "41 million reasons to zoom in" at the event, which Nokia is calling Zoom Reinvented.

UPDATE: Nokia has unveiled the Lumia 1020, and it will have a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, not a quad-core processor as was rumored.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 is expected to contain a 41-megapixel camera, as images on Flickr from Joe Belfiore, head of Windows Phone development at Microsoft. A list of specs was reportedly leaked to WPCentral. A release date before the end of this year is expected, but may not even be revealed at tomorrow's event.

So how does the Lumia 1020's rumored specs compare to the Nokia Lumia 920?

The Nokia Lumia 1020 will have an extremely large camera lens and a 41-megapixel (like the previously released Nokia PureView 808). Unlike the Lumia 920, the Lumia 1020 (or PureView 909) is expected to have xenon flash, which is found mostly in digital cameras and has a brighter and more rapid flash than LED. It will also contain an LED flash for extended use, such as taking videos.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 takes pictures at 32-megapixel and 5-megapixel at the same time, with 5-megapixel shots for easy sharing on social networks that combine 7 pixels into a “super pixel” in addition to a 32-megapixel shot for storing, editing and printing.

The Lumia 1020 will also reportedly contain 2GB of RAM, a departure from earlier Windows Phone 8 devices that only contained 512MB to 1GB of RAM or random access memory. RAM is a necessary feature for smoothly running large programs and multitasking.

Russian site Izvestia leaked a $70 camera case accessory for the Nokia Lumia 1020 a few days ago. The accessory gives the Lumia 1020 an additional battery as well as a more comfortable digital camera feel, with a rounded grip and a dedicated shutter release button.
