RTTNews - Norwegian consumer confidence index increased to 6.7 points in June from 2.7 points in May, the research agency Makrosikt said on Friday.

Hans Petter Skogstad, Managing Director of Makrosikt said economic news since the last poll has been dominated by the less than expected increase in unemployment. Further, there were less negative readings for the global economy.

Consumers' view on thier personal financial situation compared to a year ago declined in June and they believe that the national economy is worse than the year-ago period. However, their assessment on the Norweigian economy is less negative than in May. The proportion of consumers' expecting higher unemployment fell sharply in June.
