Nvidia Corp posted third-quarter revenue slightly above expectations as the chipmaker refocuses on smartphones and tablets to offset a tepid personal computer market.

Nvidia's revenue for the quarter ending October 30 was $1.066 billion, up 26 percent and a bit above analysts' average estimate of $1.062 billion according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Non-GAAP net income was $217.0 million or 35 cents per share, compared with $117.4 million or 20 cents a share in the third quarter of last year.

Shares of Santa Clara, California-based Nvidia rose 2.97 percent in extended trade after closing up 1.05 percent at $14.47.
