The New York Stock Exchange said on Friday a technical connectivity snag halted trading in more than 240 stocks, including General Electric , Exxon Mobil Corp , Bank of America and Merck .

The exchange said in a brief alert on its Website that the issue was related to a server problem. There was no immediate additional comment from the NYSE.
