The New Zealand dollar edged further down against its major counterparts on Wednesday morning in Asia. The kiwi slipped to a 2-day low of 0.5598 against the greenback, 54.64 against the Japanese yen and 2.4047 versus the euro by 9:10 pm Eastern Time. This may be compared to Tuesday's New York session closing values of 0.5633, 55.14 and 2.3935, respectively. As of now, the kiwi is quoted at 0.5613 against the buck, 54.92 versus the yen and 2.4001 against the euro.

In economic news from New Zealand, a survey by Westpac Banking Corp. and McDermott Miller Ltd. released today showed that the nation's consumer confidence index fell to 96.0 in the first quarter from 101.3 in the fourth quarter.
