The New Zealand dollar extended European session's uptrend against major opponents during New York trading on Monday. The kiwi surged to new multi-month highs against other major currencies.

The NZ dollar climbed to new multi-month highs of 0.5703 against the US dollar and 55.49 versus the Japanese yen at about 11:55 am ET, compared to Friday's closing values of 0.5583 and 53.48, respectively. Currently, the kiwi is trading near 55.39 against the yen and 0.5691 versus the greenback.

During New York morning trading, the kiwi also ticked up against the euro, pound and the Aussie. The kiwi surged to multi-month highs of 1.25408 against the British pound, 2.3780 versus the euro and 1.2271 against the Australian dollar in mid-morning deals from last week's New York session close of 2.5902, 2.4339 and 1.2301, respectively.
