The Oakland Athletics are marred with injuries, a coaching change, and a seemingly insurmountable losing streak that may be their downfall for the 2011 season as the A's wallow in last place in their division.

The injury front got worse for the A's who lost another starting pitcher to the diabled list in Brett Anderson. Anderson needs at least six weeks to recover from an injury to the elbow on his pitching arm. He will not undergo Tommy John surgery, so he was was put on the 15-day disabled list.

Anderson is just one of four A's starters on the disabled list. Two other, Brandon McCarthy and Tyson Ross, are each on the 15-day disabled list. The last, Dallas Braden, is out for the season.

The A's also changed managers last week, firing Bob Geren and naming Bob Melvin as the interim manager for the season. Though management changes have sometimes sparked the team, the A's have continued to lose.

The A's lost three out of four games in a series against the Chicago White Sox. Overall, they are losers of 12 out of 13 games overall.

The A's are now in last place in the American Leage West, 8 games behind the division leading Texas Rangers.

The combined factors facing the A's put the team at risk for being completely done for the 2011 season.

Correction: This article has been corrected to state that Dallas Braden is out for the season, not Trevor Cahill as originally written.
