President Barack Obama, no stranger to golf, apparently doesn't forget when he loses on the links. During a fundraiser Monday night, he joked about getting hustled at a Las Vegas golf course by New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.

At the event hosted by Las Vegas Sun owner Brian Greenspun and his wife Myra, Obama referenced a 2014 golfing trip with Greenspun and Jeter. According to Obama, he was hustled into losing a match that ended up hurting his wallet.

“[Greenspun] and Derek Jeter stole money from me at Shadow Creek,” Obama said referring to an elite golf course in Las Vegas, according to Politico. “It was clearly a setup, because when we got to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere. I said, ‘You play golf, Derek?’ And he said, ‘I just started two weeks ago.’ ”

Obama and Greenspun spotted Jeter 30 strokes but immediately realized they had made a mistake on the first hole, the president said. Jeter won with ease. "We had to take a picture of me handing Derek Jeter money at the end of the game. Despite that, Brian is a great friend,” Obama said, according to Politico.

Jeter retired from baseball after the 2014 season. He won five championships with the Yankees and is considered a lock to make the National Baseball Hall of Fame. At the time of the 2014 golf outing, CNN described the round as an escape from Washington, D.C., for Obama at "the nicest golf resort in Las Vegas."

Obama has become known for his frequent golf trips. He has played some 247 rounds of golf as president, spending more than 1,100 hours on the course. Obama golfed a number of times on his recent family vacation to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. His playing partners often include famous faces. He played with comedian Larry David, former President Bill Clinton and NBA MVP Stephen Curry while in Martha's Vineyard, among others.
