President-elect Barack Obama has chosen Nancy Killefer, a director at McKinsey & Company and a former assistant secretary of the treasury in the Bill Clinton administration, to serve as the country's chief performance officer.

Obama on Wednesday announce he has chosen Nancy Killefer for the position of the nation's first governmental performance officer, to be assigned to the White House Office of Management and Budget.

Killefer on pledged to do her best to create a government that works better for its citizens.

The president-elect has said the country cannot afford to worry about the deficit while attempting to get the economy moving again.
