Vacationing U.S. President Barack Obama interrupted a game of golf on Monday and sped back to his holiday house for a personal matter, an aide said.

The aide said the president's safety was not threatened and the abrupt return was not related to a national security issue.

CNN reported the incident involved a minor injury suffered by a friend of the Obama family.

An ambulance with flashing lights drove past a van of reporters to the president's house and left again several minutes later.
