Israeli and Palestinian leaders believe they can achieve a Middle East peace deal within a year, President Barack Obama said on Wednesday as he urged both sides to seize the moment.

He was speaking after holding separate talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House before the formal relaunch of Middle East peace talks on Thursday.
