once upon a time
Marian (Christie Laing) and Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) will end up in New York City after crossing the Storybrooke border in the "Once Upon a Time" Season 4 winter finale. ABC

Welcome to New York City! “Once Upon a Time” is switching up the scenery in the second half of Season 4 by transporting viewers to the Big Apple. Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) showed up in the city during the winter finale, but another major character is going to make the move as well when the ABC show returns in March – Robin Hood (Sean Maguire)!

Viewers will remember that Robin Hood and Regina (Lana Parrilla) finally got their happy ending in the winter finale when Robin’s wife, Marian (Christie Laing), gave them her blessing to be together. Unfortunately that happy ending didn’t last long. Despite the Ice Queen’s (Elizabeth Mitchell) spell being lifted, Marian suffered a setback and began to slip into an icy coma. In order to save the mother of his child, Robin had to cross the Storybrooke town border. While leaving town doesn’t seem to be that big a deal, fans know that those who cross the border can’t come back.

When we last saw Robin Hood, Marian and their son, Roland (Raphael Alejandro), they were walking away from their home. While their future was left unclear, new photos from YVR Shoots tease that the family will somehow end up in "New York City." (Filming for “Once Upon a Time” actually takes place in Vancouver, Canada).

The New York City setting is interesting because Mr. Gold went there after getting forced across the Storybrooke border. The former dark magic wizard went to the city to seek out fellow fairy tale villains Ursula (Merrin Dungey), Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit) and Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten). It’s uncertain how the “Queens of Darkness” got to New York, but Mr. Gold made it clear he wasn’t interested in staying. His plan was to enlist their help to find the author of the “Once Upon a Time” fairy tale book and force him to rewrite the rules for the villains.

“Once Upon a Time” returns to ABC on Sunday, March 1, at 8 p.m. EST. Click HERE to see the set photos from YVR Shoots.
