‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 6 Spoilers: New Fairytale Character To Shake Things Up For Hook

Move over, Hook! A new Captain is set to make waves when Season 6 of “Once Upon a Time” premieres this September.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news Friday that “Dallas” alum Faran Tahir has joined the ABC fairytale drama as “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” character Captain Nemo. The new cast member will shake things up — especially for Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue)!

“We’re thrilled to give a ‘Once Upon a Time’ spin to the classic character of Captain Nemo from one of our favorite Disney films, ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,’” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis said in a statement to EW. “We’re excited to see his mythology merge with Storybrooke’s own captain — Hook. If for no other reason than to see the Jolly Roger go up against a submarine.”

The news of Captain Nemo’s addition to the series comes after Season 5 introduced the “Land of Untold Stories.” Dr. Jekyll (Hank Harris) and Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer) made their debut in the finale, and other characters like the Count of Monte Cristo (Craig Horner) and Morpheus (Giles Matthey) will pop up later in Season 6. It’s unclear if these new characters will factor into the town of Storybrooke, or if they’ll be involved in flashbacks. However, Horowits and Kitsis previously teased at San Diego Comic-Con that big things are coming for everyone’s favorite pirate.

“There is more of Hook’s past that we delve into and some surprising secrets that have been harbored,” Horowitz revealed at Comic-Con.

Does Hook know Captain Nemo? And are the two on friendly terms? Nemo’s submarine, the Nautilus, certainly could have attacked the Jolly Roger in the past. And if there is one thing that “Once Upon a Time” fans know, it’s that Hook is very protective of his beloved ship. But Nemo doesn’t have to be the villain here either. It’s possible that he may have rescued Hook and his crew members at some point in time.
