Loyal fans of One Direction can breathe a sigh of relief since a source confirmed that the band is not breaking up.

News of the British group, comprised of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, splitting up shocked many fans. The band’s hiatus was said to be a permanent break, according to reports, but a source told Entertainment Tonight that this was untrue.

"There's no truth to this. [Their break] remains a hiatus with the intention of reuniting at some point,” the source said.

A source close to One Direction also told Billboard that the band’s previously announced plans for a hiatus has remained unchanged. "Nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members' own mouths,” the source stated.

One Direction announced their plans to go on a temporary break in August 2015. The band has been active in the music industry for the past five years. Initially a five member band prior the departure of Zayn Malik, One Direction was one of the contenders in the reality singing competition “X Factor UK.” Although they didn’t win the competition, the group gained a loyal following and became one of the most famous boy bands in the music industry.

The band also held an emotional performance during the 2015 “X Factor UK” grand finals at London’s Wembley Arena in December. During their "X Factor UK" grand finals appearance, One Direction was given a touching video tribute by Simon Cowell and other celebrities such as David Beckham, 5 Seconds of Summer, Robbie Williams and many more.

In the video tribute, Cowell wished the four member band well and told them to have a “fantastic time” during their break. He also complimented One Direction for their accomplishments over the past five years and conveyed his continued support for the band. “I’ll always be here,” Cowell said.
