It has been five years since the famous boy band One Direction was formed. With band members and fans celebrating their fifth anniversary, singer Harry Styles sent a special thank you message Wednesday for everybody he has ever worked with.

“To you who support us, in any way, thank you. We wouldn't be here without you,” Styles wrote on Twitter, addressing his fans. The curly haired singer also thanked “all the crew” that works with the band backstage. He thanked them for their special efforts over the last five years. The singer also acknowledged that it is nearly impossible for him to express his gratitude for everyone. “We have been a band for five years. And it is impossible to thank anyone enough for all the support they have given us over this time..,” he concluded.

The hashtag #5YearsofOneDirection also trended on Twitter to celebrate the band's big milestone of completing half a decade of success. Five years ago band members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik appeared on the reality singing show "The X-Factor" and got selected by their mentor Simon Cowell to form the boy band in London.

One Direction has undergone many changes since 2010. The once five-member band is now one man down, as singer Zayn Malik quit the band in March. Malik is reportedly working on his solo album and still has a very loyal fan base of young girls, just like the other members of the band have.
