While it is traditionally the 50th anniversary that is celebrated with gold, the kickoff to Oprah Winfrey's 24th season has certainly set the gold standard. Oprah, who has remained at the top of her game throughout her show's 24 year run, still has something to celebrate. Thousands of her fans gathered on Chicago's Michigan Avenue to help Oprah ring in the new season, in an open air taping with performances by Jennifer Hudson and the Black Eyed Peas.
Oprah took to the stage to celebrate with her fans, dressed casually in a gold t-shirt and black pants, as seen here. Oprah added some sparkle to her celebration by wearing large gold and diamond hoop earrings, and several yellow gold bangle bracelets. Golden anniversary indeed! Oprah is staying true to her own guidelines it seems: Nate Berkus, resident design expert featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show and Oprah's radio show, recently interviewed celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, who said that hoop earring are one of the 6 essential style elements that every woman needs. Zoe claims hoop earrings can add glam to any outfit.
It seems Oprah is putting her best foot forward for fashion in the year ahead, as she was recently named co-chair of the 2010 Costume Institute Gala, alongside Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. The theme for next year's event will be American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity. With Oprah on board, you can be sure all of America will take notice!
Oprah is often seen wearing jewelry from her own collection on her show. She owns many pieces from Graff. Oprah also likes to showcase up and coming jewelers, and interesting jewelry styles from different cultures. Whose jewelry would you like to see Oprah wear? What styles do you think suit her best? Do you think her style is accessible to the average American viewer?
