Orange Is The New Black
"Orange Is the New Black" was renewed for Season 3. Orange Is The New Black

“Orange Is The New Black” is back! Well, kind of. After Netflix announced that the Jenji Kohan-created show would be returning on June 6, the cast has been teasing fans with what we should expect when season 2 premieres.

While visiting Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia for a TVFest, Danielle Brooks (who plays Taystee) sat down with E! News to discuss the coming season of “OITNB.”

“It feels like ‘Orange Is The New Black’ is the start of a movement,” Brooks said. “To be on a show with so many women, and not just on the screen, but also the crew and the writers and the producers, the team mostly is women. When do you see a show with more than one person of color on it? You have six, seven women who are black and Hispanic who are leads. It’s so cool. And Laverne Cox — how amazing is she?”

If that name doesn’t ring a bell, Cox is the actress who portrays Sophia Burset, a trans woman sent to prison for credit-card fraud, in the Netflix series. And yes, she is pretty amazing. Not only as an actress but as a fierce hairdresser. Seriously, who can make a weave look that good while behind bars?

Brooks went on to tease fans that we should expect to see more of her character come season 2. “I’m going to tease you a little bit about Taystee [in] season two — you’ll get more of me!” she told E! News excitedly. “The only thing I can give you is that for me Taystee has shocked me for season two so I think people will be excited to see what she does.”

Not only will fans get more Taystee in season 2, but they’ll also have their hands full when her prison bestie makes her return to the Netflix series.

“We will see Poussey’s back story, so I hope people are excited about that. I’m excited about that,” Samira Wiley said. “We will see a lot more of her in prison.”

“I feel like in season one, she’s really seen as the joyous sidekick for Taystee, and that’s great,” she continued. “She’s such a good friend and really good at that, but we’ll see really more of her, her morals, where her loyalty lies, who she is as a woman, all that kind of stuff.”

We can’t wait to see what the ladies are referring to! What are your predictions for season 2 of “Orange Is The New Black?" Let us know in the comments section below!
