The Originals
In “The Originals” Season 4, episode 2, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is finally freed from captivity by his siblings. The CW

The Mikaleson family is back! After waiting for ten agonizingly long months, “The Originals” returned to The CW. The Season 4 premiere began five years after Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) stabbed Klaus (Joseph Morgan) with the Tune blade and bit his siblings. Vampires and witches were living in harmony in New Orleans while Marcel ruled the city. But Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) managed to find a cure for Elijah’s (Daniel Gillies) werewolf bite and woke him up.

Episode 1 ended with Hope (Summer Fontana) waking up from a bad dream and continuously drawing a serpent sigil – the same sigil that can now be seen all over New Orleans. “The Originals” executive producer, Michael Narducci, explained the significance of the symbol to TVLine, “It’s sort of the key to unraveling the whole mystery of the season.” The symbol is called an ouroboros and it is represented by a snake eating itself.

While the meaning of the symbol unravels in the upcoming episodes of Season 4, the most immediate question on fans’ minds is: Will Klaus murder Marcel once he’s free? After all, he did torment his maker for five long years. Not to mention that now it’s only a matter of time before Morgan’s character is rescued by Elijah.

Narducci was asked the same question. He answered, “Well, that’s assuming that revenge will be Klaus’ first priority once he becomes free, which it might not be. His first thought could be, ‘Let me go find my kid.’ That’s also assuming that Marcel will be easy to kill.”

Indeed, Marcel is now more powerful than Klaus so it will be hard to take him down.

The producer also revealed that Cami (Leah Pipes) will be seen extensively in episode 2. The promo of the episode also shows Klaus’ former love appearing before him as a hallucination.

Meanwhile, Davis told TVGuide that he thinks a small part of Marcel wanted to see the Mikaelsons back. “I'm sure he knew the day would come because he didn’t kill Klaus. I think part of him wants the Originals family back,” he said.

The synopsis (via TVGuide) states that Klaus will suffer the effects of the Tunde blade.

Elsewhere in New Orleans, Vincent (Yusef Gatewood) will investigate a haunting that will be more sinister than he imagined.

“The Originals” airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
