“Vampire Diaries” fans – are you ready to make the move to New Orleans for “The Originals”? The new series from executive producer Julie Plec has released promo art in anticipation of it special series premiere on Oct. 3 … and it’s fantastic.

“The Originals” backdoor pilot was introduced during season four of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ when Katherine revealed that witches in New Orleans were plotting against Klaus. Upon arriving in the Big Easy, Klaus came across his progeny, Marcel, and some witches … who informed him that his one-night stand with werewolf Hailey resulted in a pregnancy.

The new art for the fall premiere of “The Originals” is pretty telling. Marcel sits on a chair in a decayed old room (possibly from Klaus’ previous reign in New Orleans) with blood or red paint on his pants and hands (probably blood). Behind him is a large portrait of Klaus (center), Rebekah (left), and Elijah (right). The three original vampires are wearing dated garb, and a fleur-de-lis is painted over them in blood. The tag line for the photo teases, “Bad Blood.”

“The Originals” premieres on the CW Oct. 3. CW

The tagline is referring to the strain between Marcel and his maker, Klaus. Since Klaus was forced to flee New Orleans years ago because of his father, the city was taken over by Marcel. His reign has included limiting magic from witches, and allowing the vampires to consume the town. Now that Klaus and his family are moving back into New Orleans, he’ll come head-to-head with his former friend.

“The Originals” backdoor pilot was reworked from the perspective of Elijah and will premiere on Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. The show will then move to its permanent time slot on Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
