Halston Sage as Alara
Alara (Halston Sage) begins to question if she’s fit for her job after a crew member dies in Season 1, episode 10 of “The Orville.” Fox/Michael Becker

A horrible incident on the ship leads Alara to contemplate about her job in next week’s episode of “The Orville.”

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 10 of the Fox series, a crew member dies when a fire breaks out on the Orville. The tragedy hits Alara so hard that she begins to question if she’s fit for her job. In some promo photos for the episode, Alara is seen working out hard — perhaps as an attempt to make herself think straight and get herself back on track.

Meanwhile, also after the death of the crew member, unusual and terrifying things start happening on the ship. In the trailer for the episode, the Orville appears to be experiencing some unexplained turbulence, which leaves everyone scared and clueless. “What the hell is happening on the ship?” asks a frantic Ed (Seth MacFarlane) in the video.

Elsewhere in the promo clip, Kelly (Adrianne Palicki) walks through a door that directly leads to empty space; Alara and Gordon (Scott Grimes) run away from an unseen threat; and Isaac (Mark Jackson) seemingly saves a crew member in the dock from a mysterious attack.

At the end of the trailer, Gordon suspects that the Orville has reached some sort of purgatory in space, which could explain all the weird stuff happening aboard the ship.

“What’s purgatory even like?” asks John (J. Lee).

“You ever been married?” asks Kelly.

When John says, “No,” Kelly’s ex-husband, Ed, chimes in and says, “That’s like that.”

In addition to returning cast members Larry Joe Campbell (Steve Newton), Rachael MacFarlane (Computer Voice), and Gavin Lee (Henry Park), series newcomers Molly Hagan and Robert Picado also guest-star in the episode. Hagan and Picado portray Drenala Kitan and Ildis Kitan, respectively. Alara’s family name is also Kitan, so it’s likely that she’s related to both Drenala and Ildis.

Do you think Drenala and Ildis are Alara’s parents? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
