Jamie and Claire will try to change history in the new episodes, which are based on Diana Gabaldon’s “Dragonfly in Amber” novel. They want to stop the Jacobite rebellion and they think that infiltrating the French aristocracy will help them change history. They’ll run into some trouble along the way, but really, when do they go on adventures that don’t involve life or death situations?

The stakes are even higher this year. Claire is currently pregnant with a child, but don’t expect to see her and Jamie raising a baby. There will be quite a time jump at some point this season. As previously reported, viewers will meet her fully grown daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) late in Season 2. They’ll also see Roger Wakefield (Rick Rankin) grow into a young man. Last time viewers saw him, he was a boy in 1940s Scotland.

The newest trailer for “Outlander” Season 2 shows Jamie and Claire promising to always stay together. However, that might not be possible. The clip reveals that Claire will return to her time. “I’m back,” she says to her first husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies).

“And I am so grateful,” Frank says. However, Claire doesn’t look thrilled to see her former love. Watch the trailer at Entertainment Weekly.

Tune in to “Outlander” Season 2 Saturday, April 9, at 9 p.m. EST on Starz.
