Outside Lands Lineup
Outside Lands will be headlined by Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails and Phoenix. Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival

Outside Lands announced its 2013 lineup on Tuesday. Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails and Phoenix will headline the San Francisco music festival that take place in Golden Gate Park Aug. 9 -11, 2013.

In addition to the headliners, Outside Lands announced its initial lineup, which includes Kaskade, Vampire Weekend, Pretty Lights, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, D'Angelo, The National, Jurassic 5, Willie Nelson & Family, Grizzly Bear, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Young The Giant, Band of Horse, A-Trak, Matt & Kim and many other artists. Expect several more artists to be added closer to the festival. Outside Lands features a pretty diverse lineup and tickets for the festival will go on sale beginning Thursday, April 18, at 12 p.m. PDT. A portion of the proceeds will benefit San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department.

Outside Lands has continued to grow as a festival and in its sixth year has landed some very impressive headliners. In 2012, Outside Lands was headlined by Metallica, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, Stevie Wonder and Jack White. In addition to the bands playing Outside Lands, the festival prides itself on its craft food, beer and wine selection, noting that festivalgoers had more than 200 different menu items to choose from.

There are plenty of great bands to check out at Outside Lands. Sir Paul needs no introduction and will be a highlight of the festival, but there are other bands that festivalgoers should make an effort to see. Following Phoenix's surprise collaboration with R. Kelly at Coachella, seeing the French band at Outside Lands should be a priority. Vampire Weekend will have released its latest album, "Modern Vampires of the City," and will complement the sun and scenery. Yeah Yeah Yeahs also have a new album and always put on an electrifying live show. The National will also have a new album by the time Outside Lands begins and the band continues to evolve, in studio as well as a live act. The reunion of Jurassic 5 and only one of 11 shows that D'Angelo has scheduled for 2013 make them two of Outside Lands more anticipated sets.

Further down, Foals will be a fun afternoon set to check out as will Kurt Vile and the Violators hazy brand of rock. Further down the lineup, Gary Clark Jr. and Wild Belle are two acts Outside Land festivalgoers should make a point of seeing.
