Paranormal Activity 3 may not have had the highest budget for a horror film nor the most sophisticated special effects, but it still got U.S. audiences hooked. Now it's out on Blu-Ray and DVD, giving fans another chance to have the chilling experience at home.

Paranormal Activity is the prequel to the 2009 ghost story that tells the tale of two sisters who encounter demons that haunt them and their house for decades. The $5 million budget film that made $104 million in U.S. theaters is shot in a minimalist style, using surveillance cameras, timers and long periods of silence to build up suspense and anticipation.

Although the film is patience-testing, it's the perfect thriller for the home, making it such a highly-anticipated buy on Blu-Ray and DVD.

The Blu-Ray version is a popular buy because it contains the R-rated theatrical version as well as the unrated director's 93 minute cut.

If you already like the Paranormal Activity series, you're going to like Paranormal Activity 3 -- and even if you don't, it's possible that the charming actors and solid scares this time around (which are only improved upon in the director's cut) may just be the first time you warm to the phenomenon. Unfortunately, if you do suddenly find yourself becoming a PA convert, there are no substantial special features on this disc to satisfy your newfound fandom, writes film critic Peter Hall in a Movies.com blogpost.

Paranormal Activity 3 - Blu-ray is a trending topic on Twitter.

The whole thing was sort of unbelievable. I still have people who come up to me daily and congratulate me and talk about how much they like the movie, or on Facebook and Twitter Katie Featherson who plays Kate in all three films, told American Superstar Magazine.

It never gets old and I never get blase about it. I think Micah and I are both so unbelievably thankful for the people who were excited about it from the very beginning, who paid attention to it. It's overwhelming, the amount of excitement. I was shocked there was a sequel. I still remember sitting at California Pizza Kitchen with these two guys (Micahand Oren), brainstorming about the first one. To have as much success as we've had, and to be here for the third round, is still mind-blowing. I still haven't really come to terms with it. I don't know if I ever will.

The film came out on Blue-ray and DVD on jan.24. Blu-ray priced: $44.99 and DVD: $26.99

Here's what the Twittersphere is saying about the film:
