The trailer for the highly anticipated new film “Parkland” has been unveiled. The movie, which stars Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, Billy Bob Thornton, Jacki Weaver, Paul Giamatti, Tom Welling, Mark Duplass, Ron Livingston, James Badge Dale and Colin Hanks, centers on the events at Parkland Hospital in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Here’s what the press release says: “Based on the epic book 'Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy,' by renowned author and former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi, the adapted screenplay is written by award-winning journalist and novelist Peter Landesman, who will also direct 'Parkland,' marking his directorial debut.”

The film is produced by Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, Bill Paxton and Nigel Sinclair and Matt Jackson of Exlusive Media, Variety reports.

According to Variety, “Parkland” will make its debut at the Venice Film Festival next week and the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film will see a wide release on Oct. 4.

This November marks the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination.
