Televangelist Pat Robertson created a furor when he responded to a viewer’s question by seeming to condone the actions of cheating husbands and implying that it is the wife's job to ensure he stays faithful. Focus on the positive and make sure the home is so enticing that he doesn't want to stray, he advised women on his show, "The 700 Club."

"Here's the secret," he said. "Stop talking about the cheating. He cheated on you, well, he's a man." Instead, Robertson continued, it’s important for the wife to focus on questions like: "Why did you marry him in the first place? Does he provide a home for you to live in? Does he provide food for you to eat? Does he provide clothes for you to wear? Is he nice to the children?' Start focusing on those things," he said.

"Also, like it or not, males have a tendency to wander a little bit," he added.

In the past, the outspoken celebrity preacher has advised women not to “hassle” husbands about flirting with other women and blamed “awful-looking women” for a suffering marriage.
