Patrick Dempsey may be known for playing hot brain surgeon McDreamy on ABC's “Grey’s Anatomy,” but he’s also a shrewd businessman. The actor’s company, Global Baristas LLC, has purchased the struggling Seattle-based chain Tully’s Coffee.

The star won the company in a bankruptcy auction for $9.15 million, according to the Los Angeles Times,

The 46-year-old actor announced the news via his Twitter account and revealed that, in closing the deal, he beat out the Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ:SBUX), which he referred to as the green monster.

"We met the green monster, looked her in the eye, and ... SHE BLINKED! We got it! Thank you Seattle!,” Dempsey tweeted.

It was previously reported that Starbucks was looking to make Tully’s 47 cafes part of its own chain.

Dempsey joins a long list of celebrities who have used their millions of dollars to invest in various companies.
