Paul Walker’s father is speaking about his son’s death, almost a year after the actor’s deadly 2013 car crash. The 40-year-old “Fast and Furious” star was involved in a fatal single-vehicle accident with friend Roger Rodas on Nov. 30.

“I’m missing him more now, the last month,” Paul Walker III told Entertainment Tonight on Monday. “It’s not getting any better for me.”

The late actor’s father shared home video footage and family photos with the ET audience, and explained how difficult Thanksgiving will be for the family knowing that Walker passed away two days later. “It’s a sad time,” he added. “We’re a very close, loving family and Paul is a piece that’s missing now, that we’re always going to miss.”

It was almost a year ago that confusion spread on the Web regarding Paul Walker’s gruesome car accident. A death hoax on MediaMass.net went viral the day before, leaving fans uncertain of the actor’s fate. But a rep confirmed to TMZ at the time that Walker had died in a crash “after leaving a charity event.”

“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide,” a post on his official Facebook page confirmed. “He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send your condolences.”

According to a report from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, Walker’s crash was “due to speed and 9-year-old tires.” Neither Walker nor the driver, Roger Rodas, had alcohol or “impairing drugs in their system,” but the report noted that Rodas was driving at an “unsafe speed” when he lost control of the car. Their vehicle hit a tree and lamppost before it caught fire.

Walker left behind Meadow Walker, his now 16-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Rebecca McBrain. According to Paul Walker III, Meadow and the rest of the family is still “in shock” as the one-year anniversary approaches.

“We don’t talk enough,” the actor’s father told ET of Meadow and the rest of the family’s loss. “The family’s in shock, it really is. I think we’re afraid to talk to each other, I honestly do. The only thing, I think, is that it hurts too much.”
