“The Vampire Diaries” alum Paul Wesley was recently spotted on the set of “Shadowhunters” Season 2. However, this does not mean that he has been cast in the Freeform series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Wesley directed “Shadowhunters” Season 2, episode 17, titled “A Dark Reflection.” In the installment, Clary (Katherine McNamara) will go on an unsanctioned mission with Jace (Dominic Sherwood), whom she kissed in the previous episode. Despite already telling Jace that the kiss did not mean anything to her, Clary would still have to endure the awkwardness of the situation. To make things worse, her relationship with Simon (Alberto Rosende) is already going down the drain.

Elsewhere, Simon will struggle to tell his family the truth about who really is. While Clary is away with Jace, Simon seeks help from Maia (Alisha Wainwright). Earlier in “Shadowhunters” Season 2B, Jace and Maia also shared a kiss, but just like Clary, Maia told Jace that their kiss did not mean anything to her. By the looks of it, as Clary and Jace develop a close relationship with each other, Simon and Maia will also be doing the same.

In a recent interview with TV Line, Sherwood dished on the future of his character, Jace. According to the actor, things will get worse for Jace first before they get better. “The writers keep telling me that it gets worse for Jace before it gets better, and I’m like, ‘When does it get better?’ We finished shooting Season 2, and it didn’t get better. We’ve spoken briefly about what’s coming in Season 3, and it doesn’t get better,” he said.

Meanwhile, photos of Wesley directing the episode on the set of “Shadowhunters” Season 2 were also released online by Entertainment Weekly. In one of the photos, Wesley is standing behind the camera. In another snap, he is talking to one of the crew while standing beside McNamara. Additional photos featured the actor, who played the role of Stefan in The CW series, giving McNamara and Sherwood instructions. He also has a photo talking to Rosende.

“Shadowhunters” Season 2, episode 17 will air on Freeform on July 24 at 8 p.m EDT.
