Peanut Butter Recall Expands To 101 Brands From Many Stores Due To Salmonella: Full List

The peanut butter recall that began with Trader Joe's store-brand Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter has expanded to more than 100 other products sold nationally in 30 states, the Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday.

Last week, Sunland Inc., of Portales, N.M., the company that produces the Trader Joe's peanut butter brand, recalled the product after several people reported contracting salmonella after eating it. No deaths have been reported.

According to the FDA, companies included in the additional recalls as of Oct. 3 are: Chattanooga Bakery Inc., Fairytale Brownies, Falcon Trading Company/SunRidge Farms, Giant Food, Gretchen Shoebox Express, Harry and David, Jer's Chocolates, Justin's, Late July Snacks, Newman's Own Organics, Oregon Ice Cream Company, Stop & Shop Supermarket Company, Whole Foods Market, and Xan Confections. The products are sold at Target, Stop and Shop, Harry and David, Whole Foods Market, Fresh and Easy, Sprouts, Heinen's, and Giant Foods, among others. The recall also includes other products like cookies, peanut butter crackers, brownies, and ice cream.

Last Saturday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the initial recall for Trader Joe's store brand Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter sold in grocery stores across the country. The recall eventually expanded to other Sunland products. According to the company, any brand of peanut butter or almond butter produced with the expirations dates from May 1, 2013 through Sept. 24, 2013 is part of the recall. The Trader Joe's brand, Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter, is sold in a 16-ounce plastic jar with the product code "97111" and the expiration dates June 11 to Sept. 2.

Sunland issued an extension of the recall of other brands of peanut butter, such as Archer Farms sold in Target, Fresh & Easy, Heinen's, Naturally More and Sprout's, to name a few. Sunland said its peanut butter products were manufactured using the same equipment as the recalled Trader Joe's and the company is issuing the voluntary recall on its entire product line "out of an abundance of caution."

No new reports of salmonella illnesses have been reported since the initial recall, which affected 30 people in 19 states between June 11 and Sept. 11 this year. No deaths have been reported.

A full list of peanut and almond butter brands affected under the recall as of Oct. 3 are listed below. The FDA said "consumers should not eat the recalled products" and "should dispose of the product or return the product to the store where they purchased it."
