Penelope Cruz expecting her first child

Fans of Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz, who had taken their idol's rounder-looking tummy as an attitude statement, were in for a pleasant shock when it was reported that Penny was actually four-and-half months pregnant.

Known to be fiercely secretive about their personal lives, news of the Vanilla Sky star and her Spanish actor husband Javier Bardem tying the knot in Bahamas earlier this July was reported by People Magazine.

On this occasion, the magazine has quoted a representative of the couple to break the story on Cruz's pregnancy, which the actor later confirmed to some sections of the media, a report published in the Boston Herald says.

The Spanish star is now working with Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp on the sets of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in Puerto Rico'. She was seen a few days back with the film's outdoor unit and sporting a distinct baby bump that the actor desperately tried to hide beneath a baggy top.

Bardem and Penelope had appeared together in Woody Allen's 2009 flick, 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona', for which Cruz got an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Barden was last seen on screen in the Julia Roberts starrer, 'Eat Pray Love'.
