“Penny Dreadful” Season 2 has officially started production. Supervising producer Christopher King shared a photo of the first script on Twitter, revealing that the Season 2 premiere’s title is “Fresh Hell.”

As previously reported, Season 2 added Helen McCroy and Simon Russell Beale as series regulars. The show wanted to reveal McCroy’s Madame Kali as the villain for Season 2 in the season finale, but ultimately, the scene didn’t work with the episode. Fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 got to see the scene that was cut from the finale, but all “Penny Dreadful” fans will get to see the scene in the Season 2 premiere. Spiritualist Kali will be the main antagonist of “Penny Dreadful” Season 2, but her humanity doesn’t mean that the show is scaling back on supernatural elements.

“The cosmology, the theology of the show gets much larger [in season two] — they’re thrown into a much more threatening supernatural world,” showrunner John Logan said, according to Variety.

Apparently, the body count will get much larger as well. King also posted this behind-the-scenes photo on Twitter.

Could Madame Kali be harboring a collection of dead bodies or is someone else responsible for all of those skulls? Fans will have to wait until Season 2 airs to find out.

“Penny Dreadful” won’t return to Showtime until 2015, but fans who desperately need a fix can buy the Season 1 soundtrack, released on Aug. 19. Who do you think is collecting skulls? Sound off in the comments section below!
