Pentecost is one of the most prominent feast days in the Christian calendar. It is often referred to as the "birthday of the church." It is the day when Christians around the world celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit.

The story of the Pentecost, which is marked 50 days after Easter, is recounted in the Book of Acts. The Old Testament says Pentecost was one of the Jewish feast days, however they did not call it Pentecost, which is a Greek name. The Jews called it the "Feast of Harvest" or the "Feast of Weeks."

Pentecost is also celebrated in beginning of the early wheat harvest season, which meant that it always fell sometime during the middle of the month of May or sometimes in early June, according to Jesus.org.
