Sports, movies, documentaries about animals and now porn.

As more manufacturers have brought 3-D TVs to the marketplace, more content creators have found ways to use the technology.

Penthouse Magazine is teaming up with European based NOA Productions to bring what they say will be the first ever adult 3-D channel. The company has already launched three HD porn channels and now will make its foray into 3-D.

The channel will launch on March 1. It will include full 3-D, native HD and will refresh every 30 hours. Programming that includes soft core and hard core feeds. It will be available on a daily basis from 11:00 pm until 5:00 am Greenwich Mean Time on ASTRA 3B, 23, 5 Degrees East.

Thanks to the increasing consumer acceptance of 3D, I am delighted to work with Penthouse to be able to satisfy the needs of the consumers and broadcasters alike who demand high quality, cutting edge entertainment backed by a solid and well established brand like Penthouse, Jacky Wauters, chief of NOA Productions and Penthouse channels' European distribution partner said in a statement.

There was no word on whether Penthouse would be launching a 3-D channel in America.

Penthouse is owned by FriendFinder Networks, which had planned an initial public offering early in 2010 but dropped the idea, citing market conditions. The company has said it expects to show $350 million in revenue for 2010 and $105 million in earnings. In October the company raised $551 million in financing and said it would be funding three big initiatives from that - one was a rumored acquisition of Playboy, though that has not yet materialized.

Porn has often been a bellwether and a driver of technology. In the early 1980s videocassette sales were initially driven by adult titles, and in the Internet era porn has become a billion dollar industry and contributed to the decline of the print variety. The technology of 3D televisions may prove no exception.
