Peter Capaldi’s “Doctor Who” outfit, created by costume designer Howard Burden, was disclosed by BBC on Monday via Twitter.

Capaldi who will replace Matt Smith as the new Time Lord in the science-fiction series, will be seen wearing a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt and black Dr. Martens shoes.

A tweet on the official Twitter account of “Doctor Who” revealed the new look, with a caption that read: “#DoctorWho EXCLUSIVE! Here it is! The new Doctor’s ‘costume’ revealed.”

In a press release, BBC stated that the costume will be Capaldi’s “time as the Twelfth Time Lord in one of TV’s biggest roles.”

Capaldi, in the press release, commented about his costume, saying: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”

Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, said: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes, Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – The Twelfth Time Lord means business.”

According to reports, Jenna Coleman, who plays the Doctor’s companion, Clara, recently said that Capaldi will be “wonderful” on the show.

“Sherlock” actor Benedict Cumberbatch told Big Issue magazine that he was a fan of Capaldi. “I am very excited to see him in Doctor Who. He is a class act, Peter, and a great actor.”

“Doctor Who” took away two awards at the National Television Awards last week for Best Drama and the Best Drama Performance prize, which was won by Smith. On Christmas Day, around 10.2 million viewers watched the first much-awaited glimpse of Capaldi’s "Doctor Who."

The next season of “Doctor Who” is slated to air in August 2014.
