Pfizer Inc. is slashing 2,400 jobs, including those of sales representatives and middle managers, a person familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

No one in the company had confirmed the report as of Friday.

A spokesman said the company does not comment on rumors and speculations, according to the paper.

Pfizer began to lay off 800 researchers worldwide recently. Since January 2007, the company has cut 15,000 jobs.
