A Cambodian woman in Philadelphia has admitted to killing two of her three children, police say.

Chanthy Mao, 27, stabbed her 8-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter multiple times in the chest on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Police were called to the family's house around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, WPVI reported.

The bodies of the children were found in one of the rooms, and police said a weapon was found at the scene, the Associated Press reported.

Mao was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and given a psychiatric evaluation, according to the Inquirer.

They believe they she may have been under the influence of something based on the bizarre behavior she was displaying, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Mao and her children recently immigrated to the U.S. from Cambodia. They were living with Mao's parents, WPVI reported.
