RTTNews - Tuesday, the National Statistics Office of Philippines said the consumer price index rose 1.5% year-on-year in June, slowing from a 3.3% rise in the preceding month. Economists expected an increase of 1.6%. The statistical office said this was the lowest rate of inflation since April 1987.

Core inflation, which excludes selected food and energy items, eased to 3.9% in June from 4.4% in the preceding month.

Meanwhile, consumer prices climbed 0.6% month-on-month in June, reversing a 0.1% fall in May. Economists expected a rise of 0.7%.
