Actor and hip hop wannabe Joaquin Phoenix is making a comeback to David Letterman's Late Show after his now infamous television interview last year. The interview will air on September 22, according to a broadcaster CBS statement.

Phoenix's February 2009 interview rose suspicion of a hoax where he spoke of his surprise decision to retire from acting. The talked about episode garnered eight million views on-line between YouTube and CBS.com.

Phoenix's strange behavior is now part of a documentary movie I'm Still Here which was premiered at the recent Venice film festival. Directed by his brother-in-law, actor Casey Affleck, the film follows Phoenix's transition from brooding actor to a hip-hop wannabe. The film opened in U.S. last week.
