This was supposed to be a breakout year for Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert, but a gruesome injury to his right elbow Sunday could completely derail his 2014.

Up 3-0 in the first quarter of the Bengals’ Week One matchup against AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens, Eifert made his third catch of the day up the middle for 14 yards but landed awkwardly on his right arm.

Based off the picture below (warning it is graphic), it looks like Eifert dislocated his elbow. The 23-year-old former Notre Dame star was taken out of the game, and there’s been no update on his condition just yet.

Eifert had made three catches for 37 yards before the injury.

The Bengals do have veteran Jermaine Gresham to rely on, and have Alex Smith and Ryan Hewitt on the bench should Eifert be forced to miss any long stretch of the season.
