Japan Tojo Notes
1 of 1
In this Oct. 17, 1941 file photo, Japanese wartime leader Hideki Tojo is shown in Tokyo, Japan. Japan's national archives say newly found notes written by Tojo showed he wanted the country to keep fighting even after the atomic bombings and criticized the government decision to surrender. The National Archives of Japan said Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 that the rare notes portrayed Tojo's narrow view and lack of crisis management in the last five days leading up to Japan's surrender on Aug. 15, 1945.
