Just after Johnny Depp left Australia to be with his family in the U.S., Orlando Bloom was set to begin filming a scene as the new captain of the Flying Dutchman in “Pirates of the Caribbean 5.” The actor will reprise his role as Will Turner in the movie.

Bloom was missing in the previous movie from the franchise that was released in 2011. The Gold Coast Bulletin reported that the producers are preparing to film a scene involving the actor on a massive outdoor water tank at the Village Roadshow Studios in Queensland, Australia. The scene is expected to be filmed at night and will involve the ship the Flying Dutchman, which once belonged to the character Davy Jones. The report points out that the ship can never be taken to the shore and has been cursed to stay at sea forever.

The Flying Dutchman has the capability of going under water along with its crew -- and Bloom may have to act in some scenes underwater. According to the report, a Facebook post has revealed that the producers have bought wetsuits from the Australian company Rubber Jungle for the actor.

Bloom will be joined by Geoffrey Rush in “Pirates of the Caribbean 5.” Rush will reprise his role as Barbossa. According to Bulletin, even Rush will get a wetsuit for one of the scenes in the movie. No details about the scene were available.

Some of the iconic ships from the franchise will return in the forthcoming film, including the Black Pearl, which appeared in the very first "Pirates" adventure. The new movie will also feature a new ship for the villain Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem.

“Pirates of the Caribbean 5”is being directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. Ronning shared this picture from the production set on the movie.
