It will come down to just one more game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators in their series to reach the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. Tied at 3-3, the two teams are set to face off Thursday night in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals at PPG Paints Arena.

Game 7 is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. EDT, and NBC Sports Network will have the TV coverage. Fans can watch a free live stream online with NBC Sports Live Extra. Pittsburgh is the favorite to advance with -200 betting odds, while Ottawa is a +170 underdog.

The Penguins entered the series as the favorite, led by the NHL’s best player in Sidney Crosby and totaling 13 more points in the regular season. The defending champs had the chance to punch their ticket back to the Stanley Cup Final in Game 6, but Ottawa’s Mike Hoffman scored a goal in the third period that broke a 1-1 tie and forced Thursday’s deciding contest.

“I thought we played a real good game,” Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan told reporters after Game 6. “I thought we dominated zone time. We had lots of chances. We didn't score tonight. The puck didn't go in the net, but if we continue to play the game that way, then I believe we'll get the result.”

With one game to decide their fate, the Senators are in uncharted territory. Ottawa needed just six games to defeat the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers in each of their first two series. The Senators didn’t reach the playoffs last year, and the franchise hasn’t played in a Game 7 since 2012.

Pittsburgh, on the other hand, is used to these kinds of moments. After losing Game 5 and Game 6 to the Washington Capitals in the second round, the Penguins shut out their opponent in Game 7. They needed seven games to win last year’s Eastern Conference Finals, coming back from a 3-2 series deficit.

“It's not something that's new to them,” Sullivan said. “These guys have been involved in these experiences on a number of occasions, and they have those experiences to draw on. You know, I think they know what to expect, and now it's a matter of going out and earning it and controlling what they can and doing your very best to get the result that we're looking.”

But just because the Senators haven’t been here before, that doesn’t mean they aren’t confident. They were underdogs against the Bruins in the first round and clinched their second-round series with a Game 6 victory on the road.

“I believe in the group we have and I know when we play our game and if we're on we can beat any team in the league and if we're off, you can have an off night,” Senators forward Clarke MacArthur said, via CBC Sports. “I feel like this team, I've never been on a team that reloads as quick as we do and that's what this time of year is all about. It's forget it, move on and we did that and now we have to forget last night too.”

The winner of Game 7 will go on to face the Nashville Predators in the Stanley Cup Final.
