A small plane crashed in a rural area of West Texas Thursday killing three people on board. The pilot was trying to fly back to the airport after he experienced some electrical problems in the flight.

The twin-engine Beechcraft BE20 Super King Air was returning to the Abilene Regional Airport, when it suddenly disappeared from the air traffic radar just before 6 a.m., Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman Lynn Lunsford told The Associated Press.

Local authorities were immediately notified by the FAA, as the pilot had complained about an electrical problem forcing him to return to the airport. Responders on the ground and helicopters which had joined the search found that the plane had crashed to the west of Lake Coleman, which was about 30 miles south of the Abilene Regional Airport.

Responders reached the crash site at around 10 a.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Fred Biddle, the rough terrain and muddy roads, delayed the responders from reaching the crash site immediately.

According to authorities, all three people who were on the plane died in the crash. The identities of the victims have not been released yet.

It is not sure as to what caused the plane crash. The crash is currently being investigated by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board and further details have not been revealed.

Earlier this month, another small plane crash had taken the lives of two people. The crash took place at 21,000 block of Springfield Road, California, when the plane dashed against the ground just after 9:00 p.m. EST.
