Planking is Passe But Owling is Really Trendy Now (Photos & Videos)

Has the popular and bizarre act of 'Planking' become yesterday? Well, you can't say no as yet another odd, but funny act called 'Owling' is on the rise, and sweeping across workplaces around the world.

Believed to be originated from Australia, 'Owling' is the act of sitting in a perched position while looking off into the distance imitating the pose of an owl.

On Monday, a thread was posted to Reddit, entitled Seems to be an increase in planking photos, so... The post featured an image of a woman perched on railing with the caption OWLING because planking is so two months ago.

Since then, a number of people have taken their own photos and post them on Facebook and other social networking sites, the Daily Mail reported.

On July 12, the first Urban Dictionary definition of the term 'Owling' was also created:

The act of displaying oneself on-top of miscellaneous objects in a sitting position while holding your knees. Let's go owling tonight on-top of signs!

According to a Times of India report, the owling craze already has two popular Facebook groups dedicated to it, with over 1,000 members.

Is Tom Green the original 'plankstar'?

Canadian comedian Tom Green has claimed himself as the creator of the popular and bizarre Internet sensation 'Planking'. Green posted a video on his website this week from 1994 that features him lying flat on the ground in front of a busy supermarket store.
